On a six-week trip to Europe in 1974, I just did not shave for at least four of those weeks. My beard has come and gone every now and then.

How do I feel about my beard? It is as much fun as a man can have when people are talking about you and they think you can't see that they are.

This is a picture of me from the 2009 World Beard and Moustache Championship held up in Alaska. I was sporting my beard as in the picture for the Friday night competition (Alaska Grizzly Beard) and won the Ptarmigan Division.
