I first attempted to grow a beard in high school, but I didn't quite have the growth. Finally, about the time I graduated, I was able to grow one in full. I always knew I wanted to have facial hair when I was younger. So the first chance I got, I grew it in. I've occasionally changed the style, but I've never had a naked face once I was able to grow.

How do I feel about my beard? I love having a beard. People react to it because it's different from the norm; and the reactions have generally been positive except for those of my family. What's that quote on the front page?

"...the male beard communicates an heroic image of the independent, sturdy, and resourceful pioneer, ready, willing and able to do manly things."
