Bearded since: 2005. I am an experimental beard grower.

I grew my beard, I guess, for the many reasons most do. I was tired of shaving 3-4 times a week. Also, I wanted to see what my beard would look like and what I would look like with a beard. But I guess the event that made me make the commitment was when my wife told me she was pregnant with our first born daughter. At first I was just going to grow my beard till my daughter was born. But after my daughter was born, I couldn't make the commitment to shave.

How do I feel about my beard? I enjoy it tremendously. I find it easier to maintain than keeping a clean shave. My beard also is a great conversation starter. With a full beard I feel more myself than without. At one point I was fed up with my beard and I shaved it off. After I was done shaving, I looked in the mirror and felt naked and didn't feel like myself. So I grew it back and it's been with me ever since. I may shave it again later in my life. But for now it is a part of me and I LOVE MY BEARD!!!!
