I've been bald since 1994. That was a little before it was commonplace to see a bald Caucasian. Without facial hair, people assumed I was sick. I grew a goatee and kept that past its fashionable expiration date. Perhaps I am right-side up and the rest of the world is upside down. My little daughter knows me as a bearded dad and prefers I continue to grow it "until it gets tangled in the ceiling fan and you can't go to work."

How do I feel about my beard? I feel great. I've never received so much curiosity and occasional positive acknowledgement for essentially, doing nothing! It's so grown in now, it's got its emotional hooks in me. To shave it off would be a nightmare, one I occasionally have.
