I grew my beard because I'm lazy... My beard started as a goatee and mutton chops about ten years ago, but slowly evolved into a full beard about two or three years ago.
How do I feel about my beard? I pretty much think my beard rules... On those few occasions when my wife asks me nicely to trim it down, I feel like I'm missing an important part of myself. I really can't imagine being clean shaven anymore.
