Bearded since: August 2007 on and off (only shaved it for specific occasions, and then the next day, right back to growing!). I am a dedicated, permanent beard grower.

a] because I have overly sensitive skin

b] because I hate, loathe, and despise shaving

c] because I wanted to look older (I'm the youngest person on staff at a restaurant and I hate being the youngest!)

d] because Italians are supposed to have wicked facial hair growth (Garibaldi! lol)

e] because I want to look more sophisticated when and if I dress up

f] to give me something to play with

g] because, when I was competing on the track team, I was hoping it would instill some fear in my competition...


How do I feel about my beard? I love it! I recently hit the eleven weeks (77 days) mark and I love the feeling of the mustache hitting the corner of my lips.

I recently dated a girl who hates the beard/mustache. But upon kissing her she loved the feeling of it tickling her.

I also recently visited NYC, and one of my friends kept noticing middle-aged women checking me out. I think that's hysterical! (I guess it does make me look older.)

Oh, and get this, I convinced my dad to grow a beard! Well a mustache, but there's still time for a beard.

This is the most recent picture. I trim the neckline every few days, and have just started lowering the natural cheekline.

All in all, I'm very satisfied with the beard. I like the red/orange/really light brown in the chin area (apparently my grandfather had red hair). And I really like this length, but can't wait to grow it out longer!

The things I don't like are that it grows slowly overall, but the mustache in particular, and that the mustache doesn't connect with the rest. But being only seventeen, I think there's hope for me. I have seen in the past year it starting to fill in, so only time will tell.
