Why did I grow my beard? I had a beard before I joined the Navy. Then they made me cut it off for four years. Since the day I got out, I've had one on my face, with the exception of one job interview. It's been a family tradition passed down by my father, and I carry the beard proudly.

How do I feel about my beard? My beard and I are one. It's a way of life for me. It inspires others around me to dare to break societal norms and also grow the hair that is supposed to be on their faces.
