I grew a beard because my dad, as I was growing up, always had a perfect Mark Spitz type mustache and I became fascinated with facial hair. As soon as I started getting facial hair my sophomore year in high school I let it grow. Also, I never shaved it because I was a swimmer and during the regular season it was acceptable drag. So when I shaved it off for the championship meets I would go faster, but then grow it right back again.

How do I feel about my beard? I feel it is respectable for only being eighteen. I have some thinner areas on my cheeks and jaw line. I have very curly hair. So the longer it gets, the more stray hairs curl outward.
