I grew my beard because I spent 2005-2009 in the US Air Force and was required to shave nearly every day, except while on vacation. Initially, I grew my beard for about five months and then got antsy and shaved to handlebar. Currently, I have been growing my beard since May 2010.

How do I feel about my beard? I enjoy having a beard. I get lots of compliments. Sometimes people shout from afar, "Sweet beard!" I'm twenty-seven and it is currently considered hip in my social circles to have a beard. I'm fairly impulsive and sometimes get the urge to shave or greatly trim, but my curiosity about how it might look in another six months motivates me to stick with it.
