I'd grown stubble before through laziness when I hadn't shaved and, to be honest, I thought it looked pretty good! I first decided to grow it into a fuller style when I lived away from home for a while. My mum always said she didn't like it when I didn't shave and said I looked scruffy. I guess when I left home I was inquisitive to see how it'd look after a few weeks. Craziest thing is, I went home one weekend to see my parents and everyone liked it, including my mum!

Since then (back in 2006) I've always had some sort of facial hair style, from goatees to stubble (various lengths) and occasionally fuller-looking beards! I find it quite exciting trying out different styles!

I apologize about the "mad scientist" photo -- as you've probably guessed, I was working in a lab at the time! It's the only photo I have to hand at the moment, but I'll try and stick on a few more over time!

How do I feel about my beard? I'm quite impressed with it. I can grow a better beard than any of my mates and they all like it. I even occasionally get positive comments from people I meet on nights out, which is always cool and it gives me the confidence to continue the effort! I'd like it to grow a little fuller around my mouth and the 'tache could be a bit fuller. But to be honest, overall I'm pretty satisfied!
