I have sported a mustache since my college days, beginning in about 1980. During the past decade or so I have experimented with having a goatee and mustache and the mustache alone. On October 1st, 2009, I decided to grow my beard out to see if I liked it. On November 16, 2009, I trimmed a neckline for it and really liked the result. I now feel ready to continue growing to see if it will get as full as I would really like.

How do I feel about my beard? I really like it at this point, but have a couple of spots on either side of my chin, kind of outside the goatee zone that I hope will fill in better. The beard on my chin is nice and thick. My mustache is good as usual and I'm hoping for the best for the sides. If the sides grow in okay after a couple of months of fertilization and cultivation, who knows? I may become a chronic beard wearer. It really helps my weak chin and I think it gives my face a stronger character. I've gotten a few comments from people about how they don't ever remember me having a beard and why am I growing it now. Man, I guess they will really be shocked if they don't see me for six months (goal for no trim)!
