I am a Christian that feels that Jesus replaced the moral framework of the Old Testament for a kinder, more accepting, more sensible morality. However, I do not feel he replaced the ritual framework! So I am still bound by the commandment of Leviticus 19 to not round the corners of my beard! On February 1st I had the Holy Spirit overtake me and I immediately stopped shaving. I will never shave my beard again from here on out.

How do I feel about my beard? I love it. It gives me a mystique and charm. It connects me to a culture, way of life, and ideology that I treasure. Before I had a beard, I looked like a little Turkish boy. Now I look like a divine messenger of God. It is startling how something as simple as facial hair can be a vehicle to a vast transformation of life circumstance.
