I grew my beard because I found that growing a beard meant that I was generally not bothered by unwanted hassles from people on the street so often. I used to have a full full beard. But at my girlfriend's request (who had stuck with me from when it was nothing more than stubble right through to its Wild-Man stage) I decided to trim it and have now settled on a compromise which we both like. However, I am attempting to grow the goatee-area into a more Gandalf kinda length... which doesn't seem to be happening at the moment but I shall continue to try... In general, though, I am happy with my beard.
