I have been active duty Army since 2003 and I was not allowed to grow facial hair. In 2006 I was deployed to Afghanistan and, because of the unit I was with and the job I was doing, I was permitted to grow my first full beard and I liked it.

How do I feel about my beard? I learned that having a beard makes you more masculine and it is the same as a mane on a lion. Having a respectably-sized beard makes you the dominant male and people show more respect toward you...as long as it is groomed. My wife thought it looked hot.
