I had to be clean shaven during four years in the Army. Except for that time, I have had a beard from the age of fifteen.

Why? I didn't grow it. It grows on its own! I find that these days it is a most effective filter -- it screens out the judgmental.

How do I feel about my beard? It is natural. I think it "just looks right" it "belongs". And besides, it gives your hands something to do while thinking deeply. It has become part of who and what I am.
