I grew my beard initially to gain "gravitas" with older subordinates in the construction field during the mid 1990s. I have since trimmed it back and even shaved it a few times...it never feels right.
How do I feel about my beard? It adds length and mass to my round face. I find that it serves as a social screening tool, weeding out the judgmental and faint of heart. Both Brian from Georgia and Kribba from Sweden sum it up pretty well in their comments on this site.
