Why did I grow my beard? I have always wanted a beard, ever since high school. I have always been able and have done many "parts" of one: sideburns, mustache, three-to-four-day beards. Bottom line is I have never been allowed to grow one because of company policy. Now that I am retired, I don't have to answer about much of anything.

How do I feel about my beard? So far I like it. It makes me feel more rustic. I have always felt like I was born a few hundred years late and find that it kind of attaches me to my heritage. Many or most of my ancestors had huge beards. I like it and hope that it does not irritate me this summer. I plan on a big full beard. After I have it for a couple of months I will trim it up. But for right now, it is a bit scruffy, which is okay. It is cold out.
