Why did I grow my beard? I immediately joined the military after graduating high school. During my twenty-two-year career, I was not allowed to grow anything beyond a neatly trimmed mustache. Now that I have retired and am approaching my forties, I feel that a beard is long overdue. In my mind, beards represent a mature male and it is time that I look like one.

How do I feel about my beard? After attempting to grow a full beard for the first month, I came to realize that it just wasn't possible. So I decided to just keep going with what my genetics gave me and I really like the look of it. One downside is that eating anything is a real mess. But I can live with that. Now I'm trying to figure out how long is long enough.
