This is my first year (at age forty-five) growing a beard. My kids have recently grown up and moved out. I turned one of their rooms into a "man cave" and thought that growing a beard was the next logical step in embracing my age and letting the world know who I am and what matters to me.

How do I feel about my beard? I wish that I could grow hair on my cheeks and thus a full beard. But this doorknocker will do nicely. What you see is only four months of growth. So I have a lot more coming. That should drive my wife nuts!
