I have done a few Van Dykes, different versions of goatees, a soul patch, and a mustache. I've always been in favor of the mature and confident look of beardedness, but never committed to the full beard until last October.

How do I feel about my beard? It was difficult to commit to the full beard because I have some thinner patches on the sides of my face. It took some perseverance and experimentation with defining the cheek and neck lines, but I feel the full bearded look has developed well for me, and will only get better.
