Bearded since: 2010. I am an experimental beard grower.

I grew my beard for a few reasons.

The first reason was out of sheer curiosity. I have always always wanted to know what I would look like with one. I think every guy probably does.

The second reason is because beards (not all of them, but a lot of them), ever since I was young, have always given me extremely positive impressions about the person with the beard.

That certain type of beard conveys this stately, good-natured, masculinity. This open-minded yet worldly wisdom, strong, yet gentle, dignified yet daring, noble but tough, valiant and lion-hearted, a fusion of seemingly opposite qualities that epitomize masculinity (to me).

How do I feel about my beard? I really like it! It started out as something of an experiment, and I wasn't sure if I would look the way I hoped I might with one. And to me, it looks better than I thought it could.

I've had a lot of positive reactions from people, too. People look at me in a way that's hard to describe. It's like the beard gives a very "fatherly" impression that people find endearing and appreciate. The looks I get make me feel like I'm cherished and respected, and held in high esteem, even by strangers.
